Hunter Wetlands Centre Australia (HWCA) – School Education Program
The HWCA Wetlands Environmental Education Centre and school education program is underpinned by a valuable partnership with the NSW Department of Education and Training (DET).
The program offers a series of topics to cater for students across a range of age and ability levels (from Kindergarten through Year 12) and reflects topics in the NSW School Curriculum.
The program includes:
- Wet and Wild project – internet competition
- Envirothon project – Year 11 competition
- Feathers, Flyways and Friends – a comprehensive website hosted by HWCA that includes school resources such as the publication Feathers, Flyways and Fastfood; sliding puzzles; memory games; colouring stencils; and a powerpoint presentation on ‘Migratory Waders in Our Region’.

Bird Observers Club of Australia – Western Port Shorebird Education Kit
The Westernport Shorebird Education Kit has been developed by BOCA and a group of Environmental Science Masters students from Monash University. The kit is aimed at upper primary school children.
Content:
- shorebirds of Western Port, Victoria
- general information on shorebirds, their habitat, threats and the management of threats
- good news stories
- activities, including worksheets
- powerpoint presentation
